My Background

I was born in Jamaica and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. At 18, I joined the U.S. Navy. That decision took me around the world and ultimately shaped how I think about money, stability, and building something that lasts.

I was stationed at NAS Patuxent River from 2009 to 2012. That was my introduction to Southern Maryland. After retiring from the Navy at Dam Neck Naval Station in Virginia Beach in 2016, I moved from Virginia Beach to Lusby, Maryland to raise my kids near family. I chose Calvert County for its schools and its sense of community. I have been here since.

I started investing in real estate in 2014 while I was still on active duty. I watched other sailors buy homes at every duty station and hold them as rentals. The ones who did that built real wealth. That observation shaped my whole approach to real estate financing.

Why I Do This Work

I became a Mortgage Advisor because I kept seeing the same problem. Investors, veterans, self-employed professionals, and seniors were working with lenders who only knew how to do one type of loan. When a situation did not fit the standard template, those clients were turned away. That should not happen.

Many investors and self-employed borrowers do not fit traditional lending guidelines. Tax returns often tell the wrong story. Rental income, business cash flow, and investment goals deserve a lending strategy built around them rather than forced into a box that does not fit.

My job is to understand what you are trying to accomplish and find the financing that supports it. Sometimes that is a conventional loan. Sometimes it is a DSCR, a bank statement program, a VA benefit being used strategically, or a reverse mortgage being considered as part of a retirement plan. I ask questions first. Then I find the answer.

I work with veterans who want to build wealth through real estate. A VA loan for a 2 to 4 unit property is one of the most underutilized wealth-building tools available to anyone in uniform.

On Reverse Mortgages

For homeowners 62 and older, I help families understand how a reverse mortgage fits into a broader retirement plan. It is one financial tool among many. My role is to give you an honest education so you can make an informed decision, not to sell you something. One advantage of Fairway's in-house delegated underwriting is that files move more efficiently than lenders who have to broker every file to a third institution.
